Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using Verak. These terms govern your use of our platform and your relationship with us.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Verak ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use the Service.
Service Description
Verak is a sovereign professional portfolio platform built on the AT Protocol. The Service provides tools for building and displaying professional profiles, connecting with other professionals, and showcasing credentials. All data is stored on your Personal Data Server (PDS) — not on Verak infrastructure.
AT Protocol Account Requirements
To use Verak, you must have a valid AT Protocol account (Bluesky, Gander, or EuroSky). You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and any app passwords you create. Verak uses app passwords — not your primary account password — to access your account on your behalf.
User Responsibilities
You agree to use the Service in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You are responsible for all content you publish to your PDS via Verak. You must not use the Service to harm, harass, or deceive other users. You are responsible for keeping your profile information accurate and up to date.
Intellectual Property
You retain all rights to content you create and publish via the Service. By using Verak, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to display your publicly available profile data through our platform. The Verak name, logo, and brand assets are the intellectual property of Verak and may not be used without written permission.
Prohibited Content
You may not use Verak to publish or distribute content that is: unlawful, defamatory, or fraudulent; infringing on third-party intellectual property rights; containing malicious code or harmful software; or violating the AT Protocol Community Guidelines or the terms of your host network (Bluesky, Gander, EuroSky).
Analytics & Data
Verak's analytics are privacy-first by architecture. Profile view analytics are stored as records on your own PDS — not on Verak servers. Verak uses server-side analytics on its own website only for aggregate traffic measurement. We do not sell personal data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Verak shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or CAD $50, whichever is greater.
Service Modifications
Verak reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice where practicable. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
Account Termination
You may disconnect your account at any time via the Settings page. Because your data lives on your PDS — not Verak's servers — deletion from Verak does not delete data from your PDS. You may delete records directly from your PDS using standard AT Protocol tooling. Verak may suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through in-app notice or via the email address associated with your account. Continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
